It seems pretty obvious that Wolverine wasn't a teenager at any point during X-Men... nor was Banshee. So, two questions for Mr. Byrne:

1) Notwithstanding that we do not know Professor Xavier's age, was Banshee close to that? Perhaps the question might be better phrased as how old was Sean... either way, I guess.

2) What age was Wolverine? I seem to recall you once noted that, had you continued on X-Men, you had planned a crossover with Captain America (had you continued on Cap, what a crossover THAT would have been!) and Cap would have commented, "Colonel Logan? Is that you?"

Thanks in advance!

1) Sean I figured was in his forties.

2) Corporal Logan—but, yes, I figured him to have been born maybe in the 1920s.

Richard: (in Marvel time, the events of issue #1 of the X-men occur 7 years
before issue 138, with only 1 1/2 years between #98 and 137)

**

I think the first part is right, but the second part is not.

The way I understand Marvel time is that, as you say, there are 7 years
between FF #1 and X-Men 138...

But there are also 7 years between FF#1 and X-Men 98.

In other words, there is almost no time between X-Men 98 and X-Men 138.

Should readers assume Wolverine in Elsewhen is strictly as seen in the comics
before your departure? (In other words, no samurai backstory or other later
revelations?)

The “Seven Year Rule” was originally stated—by Len Wein as I recall—as being seven years since the FF went up and it would always be seven years!!

Yeah, you also showed Reed Richards celebrating his 40th birthday in FANTASTIC FOUR (which jibes with Stan stating that he was in his mid-30s during the early days of the series), and just prior to that made a reference to the initial Skrull incursion from FF # 2 as having taken place "six years ago", so the seven-year-rule seems like a good fit.

Something that spoke rather dramatically to why the Seven Year Rule never really had a chance occurred not long after Len proposed it. It must have been something like 1977, and a writer for a fanzine declared that he could never accept the Rule, as he had a hard time believing all the stories were taking place in 1968.

sigh

This is going to sound mean and, to some, egotistical, but ELSEWHEN is a Chris-Free Zone. I’m not going to be using any of his material, except what was in place before I left—the Shi’ar, for instance.

Only makes sense, since it wasn't you who had written those things into Wolverine's story.

So, we're going back to when Wolverine was a mystery? Ahhh- that just feels right!

Although, one wonders how much he'll be in your first arc, since you had Storm turn him into Canadian bacon in the first issue... :)

No doubt- I can't wait to see more of him, especially in the brown and orange suit again.

Thanks for the age confirmation. I always thought Peter was 17-18. Essentially the only teen from the "New" team. Until Kitty, of course. The rest being young adults to possibly older (Banshee) and who knows for Wolverine.

Corporal Logan and Cap. That sounds fun!
