They'd learned, maybe, from their mistake of killing Alfred

*****

Well last I heard they killed him again

Tom King's (awful) work. I suspect we'll find out soon it wasn't really Alfred who died. Or something. I hope.

Really, kill off Alfred while PENNYWORTH is on TV? Not bloody likely.

How likely is it that Marvel would remove Tony Stark from the armor while the Iron Man movies are in the theater?

I saw a 2019 action figure of Alfred with interchangeable heads so you could make him the comic-book version, Alan Napier, Michael Gough, or... the Outsider. Somebody out there is thinking about that old story line.

These older elitist readers think of themselves as being "sophisticated" and they think that superhero comics need to be made more "mature" and "sophisticated" (translation "more grim n' gritty and less suitable for all ages") in order to appeal to their more adult tastes and to show their non comic readers how 'cool" and "adult" superhero comics are.

This. All of this.

The superhero demographic is children. If you think the genre needs to "grow up", then you probably do.

Which is not to say comics, and their adaptations in other media, should not be able to entertain at levels for all ages.

Clearly, the Adam West Batman series offered something for the adults.

Three things happened: a large (and vocal) slice of the fan base got older at the same time those same people were moving into pro positions, AND assuming greater and greater control of the avenues of distribution.

With all those elements cascading into position almost simultaneously, the product itself began to change, catering to the aging fan base. The analogy I’ve used before is Chevy producing a station wagon version of the Corvette Stingray, aimed at aging customers.

It looks like the average age of superhero comic books readers is decreasing again lately, due to the movies and video games.

Going back to Batman, I was checking Todd Klein's page (I just learned that he created several of my favorite superhero logos) and I remembered how cool were these logos for me as a child. Interestingly, Batman has changed logo and symbol very often. What are your favorite logos and bat symbols across Batman's history and which ones do you think didn't work so well?

Remember when logos were hand drawn, not typed?

Easy:

I also like the 60s TV Show logo, which I guess counts as a variation of the previous one:

The one they used for the Wednesday Comics strip is a perfect modern iteration of the same I think:

These, on the other hand are amongst my least favorites:
