Their power was to move fast and flying fast is part of that; I totally get that. The light flash was an interesting twist, though I preferred it when it required the both of them to produce it. Which nudges my mind to ask you a question I had mulled over in the past -- was there any particular reason you decided to change things up there?

Looking back on it, I feel a little uncomfortable with Langowski meddling with Aurora's powers. As a child reader, I just took it took in my stride, without pondering it too much, but it feels a little just a little he was tampering with things that he didn't necessarily have the right to be playing around with.

Is there anything other than his superior flight maneuverability that sets
Angel apart from other Marvel flyers?

---well, that’s a mystery, isn’t it?---JB

And thus it should remain, unexplained. There are not enough mysteries left well enough alone in characters these days*. Part of their mistic is in us not knowing.

Something I remember John saying, that stuck with me, was (paraphrasing) "Placing all the toys back when you are done".

If you reveal (for example) that the twins generate that energy because they are actually triplets or some other equally fantastical proposition the "toys" can never truly fit back in the box.

-D

* In part because of their longevity.

edit to add the note and (for example)

This goes to something I mentioned just recently, that once upon a time someone would say "Here's a cool idea!" and someone else would ask "But what happens next?"

Being a big fan of Angel, I was hoping he would get some moments in the Hidden Years.... AND THE HIDDEN YEARS DIDN'T DISAPPOINT!!! And Candy Southern!!!

••

I brought Candy into XHY because the character had been killed off fairly recently, and I didn't think she was IMPORTANT enough to die. I wanted to make her more important, retroactively.

Y'know, the light flash thing? I just thought it was cool.
And yeah, it bothered me too that Walt "adjusted" Jeanne-Marie's mutation so that she could generate the light flash on her own but no longer by touching Northstar. Struck me as a way of "marking his territory," even if she went along with it. (New hair style, new costume, etc.)
Well, Al Ewing currently has Walt dead in IMMORTAL HULK, with no mention of anything happening in the past several issues.

So let me ask Sasquatch's creator:
would there be any reason why there couldn't be another host for Tanaraq? The conditions would have to be right but it seems like there could be another "Sasquatch" who isn't Walter Langkowski.

But as to the story at hand:

Lilandra clearly wants to have ALL the X-Men front and center for what she plans to do. I would guess that the Phoenix Entity is holding a grudge.

I suppose not, tho it seems like Sasquatch has been de-uniqued enough!

The Phoenix does appear to need copy Jean for something important.
