Me: I wonder if anyone ever thought of just leaving Cyclops' optic blast as white, instead of adding a color.

JB: Many would still read that as cold.

Hm, I can see that. Superman having heat vision probably set the tone for vision-based powers, I guess-- readers are going to think that any beam from a character's eyes is either hot or cold.

I wonder what the resulting conclusion if the beam had been green or violet... a compound color. Yellow and red suggest heat, and blue suggests cold. White suggests cold and black suggests a killer force. Orange probably suggests heat too. Or maybe a gradient... say, orange into red.

Lucky Bobby or Jean never ran into that issue!

Cyclops vs Cyclops, and M-Clops is more powerful than Cyke. Luckily, it's more than about power... it's about skill and teamwork. And the M-Men don't strike me as very skilled, since power is rather its own skill... until you meet someone better. This is gonna be FUN!!!

I enjoy the pop of colour lately it reminds me of the
Wizard of Oz. Everything is Black and White then
suddenly everything is colour.

Amazing page - the use of color for the final panel is fantastic!

Color use again was nice, but not as 'wow' as with Wolverine as we hadn't seen any color over 20 issues at that point, but this was so soon after that, the effect didn't jump as much, still effective though.  While I'd love to see this in full color I can't imagine that happening (I figure Mr. Byrne needs to sleep and eat).

The blue/black thing is something I always 'got' as a kid (never saw someone with blue hair so I assumed the blue was to indicate black but allow us to see detail).  As to the red beam vs blue - yeah, hot vs cold.  What color wouldn't imply anything?  Green?  I could see people saying he should shoot plants to make them grow.  Yellow?  Heat again.  White - could be hot or cold depending on ones perspective (white hot or ice cold).  Unintended consequences of any choice.

Looking forward to how the battle of the two Cyclops goes.

Great page! Jean's new look is starting to
grow on me.

Hmm, is alt-Clops reacting to Scarlet
Witch being attacked as a concerned
teammate or former romantic partner?

I can't imagine Cyclops' beam being anything but red, but I suppose had it started out as some other color in 1963 it might seem right now. Although I can never quite accept a Hulk that's not green even knowing he first appeared as grey, so maybe I wouldn't have liked something else for Cyc's beam.

I always saw blue-black as either black leather or black hair. I still have problems with that late '80s-'90s U.S. Agent character, they seemed to make his coloring quite complicated at times to try and distinguish him from Captain America more?

As for Storm/Ororo... I'm happy until a mohawk appears. :^)

I am bewildered by this commentary. Not its content, but its reason for being.

I do like how this story is progressing. With the end of this issue coming tomorrow, I can't wait to see what this issue's last page has in store. (Edited- thanks, JB!)

Andrew provides an opportunity to remind everyone that the two-page posting earlier in this issue means the final page, 20, will appear tomorrow.
