Ok, caught up.
Wow. Just wow.
I was going to post a sarcy comment about that being a terrible last page, but that’s been done. I was going to post about how whoever buys the page gets a masterpiece, so we’ll done Bill, & well deserved as well!
So, all I can say, is this was a brilliant issue. So many plates spinning & progressing. Love it

I did not realize Kirby was ever a persona non grata with fans. That makes me sad.

One of the few worthwhile things Image did was the restoration of Kirby in the eyes of younger fans.

There is so much COOL STUFF happening on this page that it could take a whole book to explain it all.
Welcome back, Dr. Doom! You haven't aged a day!

If this were live theater, Doom would have to wait for the half-hour standing ovation to die down before he could say his line.

There's something about Magneto's face on that last page that I just absolutely love!
4 cliffhangers! I'm having trouble figuring out which one I'm most curious to see the resolution of, but I think smokey the bear just inches it out.
I guess Alpha Flight brought their story structure along with them since the team is fragmented and starring in their own stories ;)

Felt like a lot of stuff was resolved before this issue but now we have a whole stack of great subplots for the next few issues (and probably beyond). I LOVE it. The last page of any comic should make readers really want the next month (or in our case weekend) to go by quickly. A last page that fully resolves everything should only be on a final issue of a series, or when the creative team is changing.
This is a Doom that intimidates. I love detailing how his voice is (something art on its own really can't do). I hope when they bring Doom into the MCU they reference some Byrne stories. Just 3 people/teams have done him right imo - Stan/Jack, Byrne, and Simonson (a very different take, but I liked it). Others get some of him, but those 3 versions make one feel 'here is a guy who can take on even Galactus and not be afraid, but instead make Galactus think twice'.
Biting my lip not to speculate on that next issue blurb beyond 'I seriously doubt we'll see bone claws'.

It's really weird to realize that the only comic I look forward to and actually read for the past few years is Elsewhen. This issue is a fine example of why. Thanks for the experience, JB...
