I had to put down that issue. NOTHING in AF 12 suggested that that was even conceivable--so why was it suddenly credible now, when "Mac" showed up? I liked how the story played out, with everyone wanting to believe so much that they overlooked how glaringly impossible it was. Seriously, "Dark Guardian" became a favorite character of mine--until "her" chance encounter with Madison Jeffries... ;)

All to say, if it was your intent to bring back Mac, JB-- I know you'd have had a way to do it that didn't violate what was established in AF 12.

So if Mac lives, who dies instead in issue #12?

It’s not a “where there is death there is always death” scenario!

My teenage heart hurts thinking of that moment. Look what they’ve done to my boy.

"It’s not a “where there is death there is always death” scenario!"____________________________________________________

I thought a character dying every 12 issues was both a deliberate choice as a writer and, internally, connected to Shaman in some way (Snowbird mentions it's the anniversary of Michael's wife & grandfather's death on the day that Mac died). 12 issues later and Walt physically dies. Of course, if we're hopping into the ole time machine anyway, I guess all of those things can be corrected as well. It would certainly be a very different ALPHA FLIGHT, tho.

I alreay told I found "Mac"'s resurrection was really going too far when I read it.
But I believed it as I saw what he was telling. Of course it made the truth even more brillant (and cruel).

It's a great story-- even we, the readers, were willing to suspend disbelief because we wanted it to be true too, no matter how impossible it was.

I feel like I would really enjoy a Shaman solo book. This has been a real treat JB, thanks.
