Well, yeah. If we get into a Thing vs Doom knockdown drag out. I wonder what's next? (That's not prophesying. I ALWAYS want to see Mr. Byrne's Doom vs the Thing.)
Even tho the Thing can be somewhat tedious to draw—it helps if I kind of Zen out—he stands as one of my all time favorite characters, as a reader and as an artist.
It was a lot of fun for me, watching the evolution in my art as he slowly became “mine”. The goal was that it should appear as if Kirby and I were both looking at the same live model. *.
I think I got there!

* This is something I try to impress on young artists. Draw in your own style, but draw the characters as they “really” look.
Although second-place in my heart to the X-men, seeing your FF this morning sent a rush of blood to my head. Those were good days, and great stories.
The way you shift and vary the perspective is the hallmark of a great illustrator. You are in no way-shape-or-form inferior to "the other JB" in my eyes. Quite the opposite.
I live in fear of the day the rose colored glasses will fall from the eyes of my fans, and they will suddenly see my work as I see it!

I agree with Charles- nothing to fear, JB. We've been looking at that run for a long time, and if I read it a thousand times, it will still stand as the greatest run in comics to me. I think you nailed down the Fantastic Four in a way no one has before or since. Stan/Jack and you are the gold standard, when it comes to the FF.
I loved the surprise of getting a guest appearance by Reed and the gang today!
(I'd ask if this page were available, but A. it's probably not, and B. I probably can't afford it.)
When Doom showed up in Elsewhen I had hoped the Fantastic Four would not be far behind. I would parrot Scott and say my rose colored eyeballs are not likely to fall out anytime soon. =)
John’s Mr. Fantastic was the revamp I cherish most. Finally, the smartest man in the Marvel universe looked like the smartest man in the Marvel universe. A professor. Just my opinion, but previous versions has huge shoulders and looked like a superhero, and one who could benchpress a chest freezer. John’s version of him also made me see Sue in a different light, and of course, his sSue was the most beautiful and tender woman in comics. Johnny got his flowers in a post up thread, so don’t @ me.
