To draw Spider-Man properly, an artist must surrender to the will of Landru—I mean, to the basic exaggerated, cartoony quality of the character. Same with the Thing.
It's a real testament to Ditko and Romita and through inheritance of sensibilities, you that a character covered from head to toe with webs of all things is so easily identifiable as a hero.
Ah, "cartoony" is another strength that I didn't consider. It's crazy how I can look at an issue of WHEELIE AND THE CHOPPER BUNCH and still be able to identify your style!
Oddly enough, my mind jumped to an example of going too far in the other direction: Alex Ross's Spider-Man in Marvels.
A properly-rendered Spider-Man on a comic-book page looks dynamic, flexible, spider-like, whereas a "photorealistic" Spider-Man looks like a guy in a Spider-Man costume. (See also the various CGI renderings of Spidey in action in the various movies, vs. Nicholas Hammond and/or his stuntman in the TV show.)
Disclaimer: I say this as an Alex Ross fan! I think it's simply a telling illustration, no pun intended, of how there is very much an art to drawing super-people, vs. simply drawing people, even drawing them extremely well.

JB - when Nightcrawler teleports and takes objects with him, must he teleport the whole object or could he take a portion? What if the object is affixed to another object (e.g., helmet affixed to Magneto's head)?
Thanks for all the fun!

I'd say Kurt can teleport things that are not actually PART of other things. Such as Magneto's helmet which, even if he did have a chin strap, would not be physically PART of him.
Though if all characters took sensible precautions it could spoil the fun. Imagine if Reed made Johnny wear an unstable molecules parachute that deployed in the event of an uncontrolled fall. We'd miss out on those dramatic rescues/recoveries!
I am really enjoying the guest appearances of Spider-Man (my favorite solo superhero) and the FF (my favorite superhero family/team) here. I dig the way JB has brought them into the mix while still keeping this firmly grounded in the X-Men’s story.
