"The documents Trump took included sensitive information on our nuclear weapons."
That may very well turn out to be the case, but we don't know that yet, and we won't know unless/until the warrant and supporting affidavit are revealed. Personally, I don't trust the media (Fox, CNN, or any of them) with respect to information about the documents that has been leaked.
Garland has asked the judge to unseal the warrant, along with 2 related documents (hopefully one of them will be the affidavit). So I do believe that eventually we'll see it. As to whether the search was appropriate, I'll withhold judgment until then.
If it turns out there was good cause to search Mar-a-Lago (which I hope was the case, because I want to believe this was not politically motivated) then I don't have a problem with it. I don't think a former president should be treated more favorably than any other citizen.
Some things I'll be looking for:
- Specificity. Do they know what documents they are looking for? - Classified information - Evidence that Trump was not cooperating with the subpoena, or that there was reason to believe documents would be destroyed, rather than turned over.
