Agreed. I think it entirely plausible that Trump doesn't see a day in jail let alone stand trial. As has been his life-long pattern, there are any of a number of people in his orbit who will suffer the consequences of his actions while the man gets away Scott-free.
Gerry Ford's pardon of Tricky Dick pretty much wrecked his political career, but I honestly don't think it's too much of a stretch to see Biden pardoning Trump, using the same Nixonian logic: the country has suffered enough.
(Also, fear factor: If Trump is indicted, we'll see a wave of violence across this country that will make Jan 6 look like Mardi Gras.)
The failure of the Obama/Biden administration to pursue justice for the Bush administration's war crimes and torture regime in the name of national comity helped pave the road to Trump. I think it's very likely Biden issues a pardon, and the next Republican will be even more criminal.
Yet the more you accommodate and factor in crazy the greater the foothold. Accommodating as in don't put black people on tv because it 'won't play in the south', or Bush Jr. really really believed his own lies even though he had to know they were lies. You either stand against it sooner... or later, or, um, never? It's already much later than we think!
Allowing for criminals to keep getting away with their bullsh*t sounds like the worst option. Well, they are fools in their brown shirts frothing about Jews losing the war, people laugh at them, they'll go away. Well, yes they have some power now, but the rest of the parties and government won't let them go too far. Holy sh*t, I can't believe they've stripped some people of everything and put them in camps (and ovens), but I'm afraid of my own children now because they pledge loyalty every morning and are training with weapons.

That's a stretch.
There is one main reason that Biden would never provide a pardon to Trump: unlike Nixon, who largely became a recluse (and somewhat of enough shame to resign in the first place), Trump would use a pardon as vindication that he was never guilty in the first place and treat it like a badge of honor.

What’s wild is that the Cheney name is now the standard bearer for integrity in the Republican Party. The guy largely seen by Progressives as the puppet master behind the Bush administration’s wrongs and his daughter, who sold out her lesbian sister by opposing same-sex marriage to win a few extra votes.
I agree with the majority, there is just about no chance that Trump ever sees a day of jail time. He's too wealthy, too connected, and too in touch with the dark side of the force. No one ever discussed sending Palpatine to jail. Same applies here.
