Egads! It really has been 25 years! I remember JB discussing its imminent release back on the old Byrne Ward AOL group. That means I've been on some incarnation of this forum along with him for over half my lifetime!

I finally read this, this year. & I loved it. What made it special, was that I as I had not read any of it before, it was like having a brand new Byrne story. Next thing I have to sort out is Jack Kirby’s Fourth World. Really looking forward to the day I read that.
Still planning to do a chronological read through of Generations. That’s for 2024

I'm glad to see #1 highlighted in this article, because that was my favorite issue. I loved seeing the 1939 incarnations in JB's style, and I particularly loved the brush stokes throughout the issue.

In a way, sometimes I feel left out here. But on the other hand, I have the thrill of discovering some “new to me” JB work that I have never ventured into. I just got the Alpha Flight omnibus. I have never read any Generations, and I dimly remember reading only one issue of JB’s Submariner.

Peter, I think the only major runs that I had not read were Generations, Fourth World, Wonder Woman & Blood of the Demon. I read Generations l earlier this year & it really was like getting new Byrne, a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I am about to start Fourth World, which will be interesting as I am somewhat familiar with the concepts & characters, but have never really gelled with the original Kirby run when I read it - what some have done with the characters since I have enjoyed more. So I am looking forward to reading the Byrne issues to see what he did with the characters & concepts.
I have Wonder Woman so also need to start that at some point. I’ve never gelled with the Demon, so I’m not sure if I will ever get to that. But I do class the ones I haven’t yet read as treats waiting to be opened.

Fun fact: GENERATIONS was the first Byrne comic I bought new off the rack. How can that be, you ask? I was a fan of Byrne's stuff from the very beginning of my comic reading days but I was strictly a Marvel kid and when I was getting into comics JB was already doing Superman at DC. So I was discovering JB's Marvel work through reprints and back issues. It wasn't until the AOL Byrne Ward days (hi Vinny!) that I became more in tune to what JB was currently working on and I no longer had a bias against DC. I distinctly remember buying the first GENERATIONS book at a comic shop that is now long gone and I only patronized for a short time.

I loved GENERATIONS. Picked 'em all up fresh off the racks as they came out.
I recently acquired new copies of the first two volumes. I don't care for the omnibus format so I will likely do some searching and pick up GENERATIONS III issue by issue.
