That supposed limitation is going to be tested within months, and the ruling will be in Trump’s favor, with some kind of argument that the Presidency role is a 24/7 one. Therefore, all actions, whether personal or professional, will be covered. I mean, goddamn Gaetz is going to be the AG - or is that head of DOJ?  Feels like total immunity for Trump and his cronies is the goal.

Gaetz made enough enemies on his own side of the aisle that his confirmation is by no means guaranteed. I see him being a sacrificial lamb in an effort to gain favor to push through other appointees that might be on the bubble.

I was looking at this ABC article you posted from 2022.

At the high end, the death rate (200 deaths/100,000) is 0.2%.  Looks like the regular flu kills approximately 1/10 that each year according to the CDC.  Eyeballing it, the same states tend to rank higher for flu-related deaths too.

@Steven: and why do you think those states in particular rank higher?

Unfortunately anything the POTUS does could be worked in such a way as to call it "official".

In the election interference case the SCOTUS ruling made them remove Bill Barr's testimony.

The fact that the "official act" was Trump telling Barr to say there was widespread voter fraud and that they ( Trump
s team ) would then go "find" the fraud is ridiculous.

Were there a midterm election coming, then, maybe.  And that's a highly, highly provisional maybe, based on what's already proven to be a Congressional GOP that's wholly spineless when not actively craven.

But we're in the honeymoon period and Trump already is making Congress dance to get all his appointments through like lightning-powered greased pigs.  Gaetz is almost a 100% lock, barring some highly unlikely 11th hour act of God.

Don't really know.  If I were to guess, possibly rural poor with worse health care access?

My primary interest for picking at the number was to understand how much worse COVID ended up being than influenza.

Project 2025 may be coming: Trump wants to put the man who wrote the Project 2025 section on the FCC in charge of the FCC.

And of all people, he wants to put Dr. Oz in charge of Medicare and Medicaid. Oz once said that the uninsured have no right to health care.

I wonder if Trumf vetted all his picks deliberately searching for the worst of the worst.

It’s a distraction game .throw out a variety of bad apples, expecting that
maybe one or two get denied, though distract and allows others to be
accepted.

He did, I believe, but he believes that they are the best to troll... well, everybody.

What I find morbidly fascinating is how Trumf’s nominees seem to all be showing stains on their resumes, yet have accepted his taps on their shoulders as if none of them will matter.

Maybe that’s why he picked them. They have the same delusions of invulnerability he has.
