Little old me?  Honored.  90 million Americans did not vote in the last election (that is more than who voted for either candidate).  We didn't like the choices.  There was no way I would have voted for either of those two.

I will take someone I'm not enthused about over someone who's got aspirations to become a dictator anytime.

Tulsi was a Democrat in name only because she knew she would never get elected in Blue Hawai'i as a Republican.

She never sounded like a Democrat, she never acted like a Democrat so as soon as she said she was switching parties, I wasn't the least bit surprised.

Well, I'll tell you what: I am an old style Democrat, in the vein of FDR and JFK (two of my favorite presidents, along with Lincoln), and the current party today bears no resemblance to the party I knew as a child, or a young man.  I believe many have turned from the party - in fact, let me change that - from BOTH parties.  Neither of them really represents the Forgotten Man of FDR.  There was no way in hell I would have cast my vote for either Harris or Trump.  I find both offensive.  Apparently so do 90 million other Americans.  Talk to your neighbors, people are grocery stores, etc. and I bet you will hear much of the same thing.  The appeal of Trump was that he is looked at as an outsider who would "stick it to the man" in Washington.  Is he?  No, not really.  As mentioned above, his crypto ideas are more of the same unregulated banking that caused the 2008 collapse.  Now, if he had said "I am reinstituting Glass-Steagall" then we might have something.  Instead he is in bed with the same Wall Street crowd that funds both parties.  In foreign policy he has shaken things up from party, and US, foreign policy orthodoxy.  Time will tell if any of his actions will result in something good.  His statement about protesters yesterday, or the day before, was shocking and goes against the Constitution.  Is he a dictator?  I don't believe that, and if he is, he is a pretty shoddy one.  A dictator is someone like Hitler.  If anyone thinks the US is like Nazi Germany please get out a history book and spend sometime offline reading it.

As fast as Tulsi Gabbard goes, I am not sure what a "real" Democrat sounds like.  She did run for president as a Democrat.  She was elected as a Democrat.  Hillary called her a Russian asset.  I found that offensive, and embarrassing for Hillary.

I am 68.

Cause she kinda is one.

But I'm not wasting my time arguing with people who didn't vote.

Tulsi Gabbard and Joe Manchin were Democrats in name only. Manchin sided with the GOP so often I was surprised they didn't kick him out of the Democratic Party.

Neither party is anything like they used to be. The Democrats have lost their balls, the GOP have lost their hearts, and both have lost their brains.

The Tea Party is where the GOP really started to go downhill, and that was based off stupidity: they were bitching about Obama over taxes  from the previous administration.

Right now Russia's biggest asset in the U.S. is Donald Trump. What he's doing right now regarding Ukraine is absolutely despicable.

I’m currently rereading THE LAST GUNFIGHT by Jeff Guinn. It’s a detailed account of the famous shootout just down the block from the OK Corral. Lots of history of the opening of the American West.

One of the interesting subtexts is the general attitudes towards the Republican party, which was still pretty new back then. Genuinely perceived as the good guys.

The Republicans WERE the good guys. They were the party of labor (before it was really thought of as 'labor') and abolitionists to the core. But that was over a hundred and fifty years ago. It's not just that they've swapped their coalitions in that time; they've completely reversed their core ideology. And from the start of the Southern Strategy into the Age of Trump, sold their souls.

Really good book by one of my favorite non fiction writers.  Read it when the paperback came out.

Guinn's book about Bonnie & Clyde is also excellent.
