Oh hee hee yes, that Donny is a scamp, isn't he? Just
hilarious the way he's gutted the civil service and put an
anti-science/anti-vax lunatic in charge of health. Don't
take him seriously, he's just pranking.

Brennan, I don’t perceive him as playing anything like a fiddle.

The man is a  one trick pony and everyone has simply grown to accept or react to  everything he does. There is no mastery at play, from this man. He has  acted this way for decades. The only difference is that previously, the general public saw him as a bit of a joke.

==============

People say that but continue to get played by his crazy statements.  They say he's stupid.  But how stupid can he be to win the presidency twice, beat all the legal cases against him and confound the experts over and over?  I say he is smart like a fox, knows exactly how to play the media and the population.

I'm not sure how he was seen before he entered the political arena in earnest.  I only vaguely remember the Apprentice show, the Art of the Deal, and him as a sort of maverick gadfly, with a smarmy side to him.  People like Oprah, and others, fawned over him.  The general public?  I am not sure how they saw him.

I'll give an example of what I mean by Trump plays all of us: he says something totally insane, and all we do, and all the press does, it talk about him and what he said.  It's free advertising.  I am certain that was his strategy during the presidential campaigns.  He had to spend less money because the press gave him free coverage 24/7.  Half the people cursed him, half praised him.  And here we are worrying he may annoint himself King for a Third Term.

President for 82 days.

27 of them were spent playing golf.

82 days. He's racked up $30 million in travel expenses.

He's planned a $90 million birthday parade for himself.

He's launched a personal crypto-coin for accepting huge, untraceable donations.

He's announced and paused tariffs 3 times to "bounce" the stock market for billion$.

82 days.

What a stable genius.

Yeah, if he's so stupid, how come he's rich?

I still have people telling me everything will be all right, that I'm over-reacting.  I've been watching this thing deteriorate over the last thirty or so years now, and it's been getting progressively worse.

I am reminded of this scene from the BBC series "I, Claudius", about the Roman Empire from Augustus to Nero:  From ep7, "Queen Of Heaven".

Claudius is engaged in a conversation with his step-sister Agrippina and his mother Antonia.  Antonia is a very honorable but clearly naive woman who does not understand what is going on in Rome with the Emperor Tiberius and the Commander of the Praetorian Guard, Lucius Aelius Sejanus.  Sejanus is conspiring to marry Claudius' sister Livilla and assassinate Tiberius in order to become Emperor himself.

Agrippina:  And what's this, Claudius, about a marriage for you?

Antonia:  For Claudius? Why, he's already married.

Agrippina:  But he's getting a divorce to marry Sejanus' sister. Isn't that right?

Antonia:  Is this true?

Claudius:  Well, I... S-S-Sejanus t-t...

Antonia:  Oh, get it out!

Claudius:  Well, my wife, Urganalilla, is apparently having a baby and it's not mine.

Antonia:  It shouldn't think it is. You never see her.

Claudius:  Well, that's the p-point. So Sejanus suggested I divorce her and m-m-marry his sister.

Antonia:  I've never heard anything so monstrously wicked in all my life. You're an even bigger fool than I thought.

Claudius:  Well, w-what difference does it make to me? I shan't be seeing her either.

Agrippina:  You're a fool, Claudius. And Germanicus* would have had no patience with you.

*Claudius' brother and Agrippina's husband, who was assassinated in Syria some time before

Claudius:  P-probably.

Agrippina:  Can't you see the vile ambition that drives that man? Can't you see it's just another step on the way? By this marriage, he relates himself to the Imperial family.  And then what?   Livilla? Does he plan to marry her?

Antonia:  Livilla? What has he to do with Livilla?

Agrippina:  He's her lover.

Antonia:  But Sejanus is married and has two children!

Agrippina (angry):  FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, WHAT KIND OF WORLD DO YOU THINK WE'RE LIVING IN?

We have too many Antonias these days, who don't understand or don't care what's going on.  I have to fight the urge to scream at them like that whenever I'm told it will be all right.

By the way, I think things will get better, but only after they get a lot worse...

Sejanus, Ernst Rohm.  There will always be an insider who is suddenly on the outs because they reached too high.

Wonder if Elon will get that treatment?

If Trump were to try to "freeze out" his fellow kleptomaniacal narcissist, one has to wonder what this ketomine fueled South-African racist would do.

Would Elon happily accept a public banishment to the beta-verse?

Elon has spoken often of his belief that we live in a "simulation". He acts in ways consistent with the idea that he is the only "real" person on earth.

It will be something to see when the richest man on earth has to "prove" that reality doesn't exist.

It certainly puts everything he says and does in context if the rest of us are all NPCs.

Another day, another change to what the tariffs will be doing - this time a
semiconductor tariff.
Anyone who dares to say they have a clue, other than he is dismantling
democracy and making lists of money for him and his mates through all this
is lying.
The world operates best through stability.
The world tends to eat itself through chaos.

Trump defies the Supreme Court in announcing he has no intention of
complying with their order to try to bring back a Maryland father whom
Trump sent to an El Salvador torture prison by mistake.

Trump says that, actually, the Supreme Court ruled 9-0 in his favor so— in
that case, no constitutional crisis?

He said if the man somehow makes it out of the prison, he'll comply by letting him back in. But has no intention asking El Salvador to release him.

I'm hoping Trump keeps defying SCOTUS and they find a way to either remove him from office, or rule that they made a mistake in allowing him to run in the first place and that he and Vance both have to go.
