At the GCD discussions group Michael Grabois posted about the death of Joanna Sandsmark.
"Joanna Sandsmark passed away on July 7. I knew her originally from the Compuserve Comics & Animation Forum, and she was the first person I ever met from knowing her online first. During the late 1990s she was working as a writer on the TV series "Weird Science" and spending money on back issues of comics (she was a big Wonder Woman fan). She wrote a bunch of letters to the WW letters column, and at some point John Byrne asked her for help or consultation when he was writing the title. He named Helena and Cassie Sandsmark after her; Cassie later became the new Wonder Girl. She had a few comics credits under her own byline, here's her GCD listing: https://www.comics.org/searchNew/?q=joanna+sandsmark&sor t=chrono
Here's her auto-bio, from the Internet Archive from her old website: https://web.archive.org/web/20151206085343/http://www.joanna sandsmark.com/about.html"
