Since the stats eventually got found, there shouldn't be any hindrance to printing a color version other than DC needing to again get the desire to do so.

Absolutely love JB’s OMAC!
I recently picked up an OMAC “sample page” that then became page 27 of issue #1. So, JB, you could knock out a couple sample pages, and then just drop them into the continuity of the story?

Actually, there is one other thing that sort of fits. When I decided I wanted to do the Demon, I “auditioned” by producing an entire “pilot” issue on spec. DC editorial liked it, and I signed up to do the series. Then Paul Levitz stepped in, insisting my audition could not be used because I wasn’t under contract when I produced it. I offered to sign whatever was needed to “correct” this, but Levitz was adamant. So I created an entirely new first issue. Over the following months I worked almost all the pages from the audition into the subsequent issues.

You were told it couldn't be used - you found a way around that decision.

Is that considered “trolling “? I thought trolling was bad.

Levitz would probably being advised by the lawyers.
In copyright law, a work for hire contract has to be signed before the work is commenced. You could have signed the rights over to DC but it wouldn't be a work for hire, it would just be a transfer of "your" copyright to DC. Those transfers can be reclaimed by the author after 35 years. So, in 10 years, you could have gotten the rights to that pilot script back!
