The writer only used Beast because he couldn't use Moira McTaggart.
+++++
David, I don't get it; couldn't the Beast remain the same or turn to human? Was Moira ever a feline beast?
Anyway, I am half a mind to buy Polaris. At first she didn't strike me as all that good, but I am having second thoughts. Is her costume of a certain time peirod?

It's sort of the Steranko/Adams version, without the diaphanous parts.

My own work in progress, it still needs some painting work. Thanks to JB for the idea and to Pat Ditton for the advice. I'm not having a lot of luck with the camera this morning, most of my pics were blurry.

He wanted a scientist. It was the brief era of "everybody stays dead" so Moira was unavailable. ("Diamond" Emma came about because he couldn't use Piotr Rasputin)

Characters being made to serve the writer, instead of the other way 'round?
Oh, say it isn't so!

About the Absorbing Man, I really hope the chain coming with the ball will be a real chain, just like on the Ghost Rider figurine !
Once again, I regret the "too must static" poses ...
