My condolences, JB. I lost my stepmother years ago and know that nothing I can say can make up for your loss, but I understand what are you going through.

She did. As a mother in the late 50s, she was, alas, corrupted by the
Werthamites, and did everything she could to restrict and discourage my
reading of comics, so when I turned to this as a career I kidded her a lot
about how I was doing it only to annoy her. But she knew the truth, and was
very proud and happy to see me involved in something I loved so much.

You must have many fond memories of her. Take strength from them in the next few days.

I'm a no-fuss, no-muss funeral guy too. So much easier that way.
