Although I don't believe that there is any kind of hereafter...It is at times like this that I hope I am wrong and that your Mom has indeed made things ready for him...what a sweet and romantic thought.

You have my condolences sir.

Very sorry for your loss - it sounds like your father made the most of his four score and ten from the stories you've shared.

My deepest condolences to you and your family JB.

••

This brings home a point that hit me yesterday. The "family" was down to Dad and me. I have no brothers or sisters, and Dad outlived his parents and his brother. Somewhere out there I have two cousins, but I have had no contact with the older since my parents and I left England in 1958, and the younger was not even born then.

So this part of the family, at least, is down to just me now!

Does the "Lord" title pass down to you?

" -- since it was my habit to call my Dad to tell him any news, a bit of muscle memory keeps trying to make me pick up the phone to tell him about this!"

I am truly sorry for your loss and thank you for sharing your relationship with your father thruout the years.

As far as the above quote, I loss my father 2 months ago and boy have I had the urge to call and gossip with him on family drama.
