I wonder why no one ever really made a movie about this guy?
This was something I did during a work break, since I've been somewhat on a history-reading kick. A fascinating character. He inherited a grudge against what was fast becoming the world power of his era (later 3rd Century BCE), gathered an army to challenge that power and actually invaded its home territories in an audacious 12-year campaign. You'd think that Hollywood would at least make one attempt to adapt the story to film, especially with the emphasis on heroes fighting evil empires (as Hannibal saw it in his day).
