Been having fun playing around with a toned grey sketchpad. It looks great with big fat ink lines and big fat white pencil marks, but for this I thought I'd try something finer.
Tried something new. Penciled on normal bristol but at at actual comic size (with the guides printed onto the paper), blew it up in photoshop to 11x17 and then printed out the pencils blue for inking. In order to complete the EC Wood-esque homage, I created some screen-tone by making it in photoshop and printing some out on clear adhesive label paper I got from Staples. (I just couldn't find any of the real stuff around town) The gradient doesn't quite look right though. Figuring out how to use that stuff is an art in and of itself and I have no idea what I'm doing.
Edit - This is just a test page. It isn't for any particular project I'm working on. Although it did turn out well, so I might go back and try to figure out the actual story besides the last page.

I kind of came up with this image after seeing a comic where the main character was near death, and his female companion used her mystical training (medical ninjutsu) to literally cut an incision through his left ribcage to insert her hand physically past his lung to apply a direct heart massage to keep him alive. I wonder how many people reading that comic were probably thinking the same thing?
I've been doing little a little project with some old Bristol board that's still lying around. This panel should be sufficiently worksafe (most of the rest aren't) to put up here to show the results of work with some watercolor brushes dipped in India ink. I was satisfied enough with the results.
What I used here was Pelikan fount India ink with Cotman III watercolor brushes (size #000 and #2).
