The main one is that I have missed these characters acting and looking right for a very long time. I really never thought I would get to see "them" again. Personally, I would find it jarring to get SO close, but to have different costumes.-------------------------------------------------- From where I stand, you've hit the nail on the head, Charles. This project resonates so much because the characters are the ones we remember. Not close reflections, not the versions they grew into over lo those many years, but the real deals, the versions we loved.
The pages JB has posted resonate so much because they re-introduce us to those characters we knew from decades gone. Much has changed, but here they are, the team you remember-- AS you remember them.
Yes, in the great scheme of things, the shoulder tailoring of the costume becomes small potatoes, but I would contend the reason this project has such a charge is because it promises to keep the characters absolutely on model.
Jack Kirby designed Cyclops' visor a certain way, and that counts for something.
Dave designed Nightcrawlers's uniform a certain way, and I think that counts for the same weight.
