Feathering like this over JB's pencils would make me swoon. I like the visual results of John's FF run more than the X-Men run, but think both are great art. I think someone with brush and a quill expertise would have to tackle the blue lines of Elsewhen to give the art a more traditional look and feel.

I think the pencils we have seen so far are so tight and detailed that Terry Austin would work in this case.  And it would be an enormous homecoming for fans of the original run.  If whatever chemistry from JB & Austin’s conflicting styles created the look of the original run, then it would be great to see it today, and on this title.   

Tom Palmer and Klaus Janson brought a different look to their X-Men collaborations with JB.  And the results are wonderful and helped define the identity of the books.  I would really like to see what Austin would do with this.

That does seem to be a problem these days, especially with Marvel choosing (idiotically, in my opinion) to publish certain titles twice each month. Joe Bennett, for instance, is continuing having to skip an issue of The Immortal Hulk, or have writer Al Ewing come up with a narrative gimmick (flashback, concurrent plotline, etc) allowing another artist to help out. One wonders how certain of today's artists would have coped in the old days, when some folks (such as yourself, John) were pencilling two or three issues each and ever month.

The last time they worked together was 2001 (if I'm remembering correctly). Here's some examples:
