If I may be so bold as to offer some commiseration on drawing cloth:
1) I try to remember most folds are soft edges. 2) If there's decent ambient light, the fold-valleys should be in half-tones, not full shadow. 3) Unless there's wind or motion, soft cloth "hangs" with gravity from a point straight above.
One artist who used to make a living drawing mythical Mediterranean people in togas was Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema. You might enjoy looking at his work. The brightness of his style compliments Mr. Byrne's to my eye.
