It was done as the “brochure” for a show of original comic art that had been brought in to the gallery of the Alberta College of Art. Some 500 copies were printed.

This was in May of 1971.

Ron Moppett was in charge of the ACA gallery. He was in charge of selecting which shows to put up.

He also did the framing art on the cover.

I have a copy in storage back in Calgary. I traded a good chunk of my post-Byrne X-Men for it. JB signed it (quite uniquely) when I met him back in the early 90's. I will post an image when I get back to Canada.
On an aside Ron Moppett was an instructor when I was a student in fine arts at the University of Calgary. Another instructor and now friend, John Hall, talked about knowing JB when they were both students at ACA.

I bought my copy at a Tramps store in Calgary back in the mid 80's for $20. It does have an indentation on the cover, but I don't care.

I suppose for true Byrne Fans one thing that makes this little volume of interest as a historic artifact is that it was done before I ever heard of Neal Adams. Or John Buscema. And when Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Gil Kane et al had receded into the fog of memory.

The most prominent influence here was Frank Bellamy, tho I was a poor "student".

Another one freed from it's plastic coffin.  I never realized these things are practically magazine size.

I've been looking for one of these for decades.  I finally bought it in December, but then the guy who had it couldn't find it in storage so he refunded my money.  He finally located it recently and I was able to get it from him.  The last 6 months were the worst, feeling like I had it and lost it.
