Jiminy Christmas – Nice SHOT, Wolverine.
You're gonna pay for it, but nice shot.

This is an interesting turn...
Magneto shows at last how filthy he really is!
It made me think of the "special treatment" he served the X-Men during their previous meeting. I didn't realize at the time how sadistic he was, taking revenge on his enemies for something he was responsible of...

When we were planning the WHAT IF...? in which Magneto formed the original X-Men, one of the things Chris wanted to include was a scene showing Storm was there too, as Magneto’s sex slave. Today’s page is the ghost of a wink and a nod to that.

Interesting. A nice shot from Wolverine....but not the plunging attack with his claws that would have ended Magneto on the spot.
I assume he got far more than ‘cape’ this time around.

...not the plunging attack with his claws that would have ended Magneto...••• And my story! As as aside, I think of Wolverine using his claws to stab in a more “surgical” manner. In pitched battle, he prefers to slash.

this last page has completely realigned Magneto to his true self. His comments about "taking" Storm combined with the degrading treatment during their last battle, really really shows where he's coming from. Makes complete sense to the character. Even the simplest action of removing his helmet, speaks volumes. Superb!
And, can I say how refreshing it is to see Logan with claws shaped the right way! It's been waaaaaay too long.

Logan’s claws. Another example of what I call The Power of Frank Miller. In the WOLVERINE miniseries he drew the claws off-model as miniature, upside-down Samurai swords. Not only was this not corrected, but other artists started emulating him.

There are times when you question Wolverine's unrestrained use of his claws -this isn't one of those times.
Storm is rendered so beautifully here -in startling opposition to the ugliness of magneto's actions.

We come, here, to one of the reasons I decided not to do this thru Marvel, despite their expressed interest. When HIDDEN YEARS was announced, and people realized I would be portraying Magneto as was appropriate to the vintage, there was an explosion of protest in some corners of fandom. Magneto was a noble “freedom fighter” (who occasionally stooped to mass murder—but, bygones!) and I had no business showing him in any other way!Don’t feel like throwing myself into that cesspool again!

I agree -taking all the villains and making them somehow noble or reformed is such a problem. One here or there is ok, but reforming them all takes away from the story. Heck, they even tried that with Thanos worshiper of death itself.
