Richard, that was always my impression from the original New X-Men run. Even at full on attack, a general magnetic field around Magneto would deflect much of the slashes. 

This is NOT the Magneto that Professor X just hands over the New Mutants and school to.

Crazy thought—what if THIS is the real timeline, and everything after the Death of Phoenix (for all of Marvel) is “alternate”?

Very curious about something in this issue...

On page 7, Magneto claims to have done the damage on Muir Island... but we saw the damage on the island was caused by the Sentinels... 

Why might Magneto say that? Hmm 🤔

Well, I plan on picking up the omnibus set, "X-Men: Children of The Atom," which ends at #143, and re-reading all those stories again. After that, I will re-read "Phoenix: The Untold Story" and continue with reading "Elsewhen," here, so I am fine with that notion. :-)

Seeing the bonds between the X-Men is really refreshing... A galaxy away from cynical things I read recently.

This IS the real timeline!  If these were published, I would have been  adding them directly into my collection replacing everything after 136 (with the published "Untold Story..." as 137)

And since now ALL of Marvel is now an alternate reality, you owe it to all of this new reality to make FF and Avengers Elsewhen too!  

"John Byrne Relaunches the Marvel Universe" !!!

and everyone can read intellectually stimulating, reasonable, non-brain breaking stories all the time!!!!

(obviously I'm being facetious;  I'm just happy having these amazing pages every day)
