Wolverine getting stepped on by a Sentinel! Love this page. You’ve really beat him up in this series!

You’ve really beat [Wolverine] up in this series!•• Seems to me like that's what he's there for! An element I'm trying to emphasize, too, is that his healing factor doesn't mean he doesn't feel pain.

Back when you were working on the book, did Shooter have a problem with splash pages? I seem to remember reading that somewhere — that he didn't like stories opening or closing with splash pages. I could be wrong. •• Apologies for missing this question. Shooter complained about big shots of the villain reveal on the last page. "That just turns the last page into an ad for the next issue," he said. To which we all responded "Which is a bad thing... why?" (In SECRET WARS, after having Galactus--who should not even have been there--lying unconscious on a hillside for several issues, Shooter put him back in action by having someone run in announcing Galactus was on the move. So easy to imagine a spectacular Kirby-esque splash to accompany this development, but, no. Mike Zeck was restricted to a small panel in the lower right corner of the last page, not even showing Galactus.)

++ Very similar to the 108 splash. •• Certainly a variant, tho I have no memory of drawing it.

Wow - I know Wolverine can take a bit of damage but he just got fried, squashed, and fried again! I like the Greys holding each other’s hand ( or at least reaching) -at this point all they have is one another to turn to.

Excellent page - it very much speaks to the Wolverine who is a team member. He goes in knowing he won't win the fight, but he can possibly distract to save people.

I’m reminded of letters I used to get. “Since you obviously hate these characters, why don’t you write something else??”Well, you know what they say, you always hurt the ones you love!

It's not JB who dislikes Wolverine, it's the Sentinels! They just don't get along with him.

Mmmm...that's not Wolverine's day! That's when something like what happens to him, happens to you, that you realize you should have stayed in bed...

Interesting that this Sentinel is different from the one that flash fried Wolverine in DOFP with his palm beam... he doesn't appear to be one of Shaw's newest models who might have a psychological reason for holding back vs. Wolverine. Or maybe it was just a glancing blow as opposed to a direct strike and I'm overthinking as usual.

Maybe the days of future past sentinels are just a lot more powerful having years to advance their tech?
