So great to see Cyclops and Captain America together - two
leaders in the heat of battle.

I just love where this story is going - Byrne Marvel is my
favorite Marvel!

A dab of good news, btw. I slipped an additional page into this issue, so it now clocks in at the full 20.

"A dab of good news..."

...

A little dab'll do ya.
Well it will me anyway.

It's such a weird feeling being transported back decades to where I left comics, especially now that I'm surrounding my walls with artists work from my youth. I really appreciate your part in my journey JB!

I think a mysterious function of the way you give your full imagination to the
characters you write is that guest-appearances in your books feel TOTALLY
authentic. Some guest appearances in other books feel a little iffy. I
remember feeling WCA would never feel completely "real" to me. But when
you took it on, it became the center of the Marvel Universe.

That effect is happening here -- and it feels amazing to see. It's like seeing
a garden grow and tear apart the parking lot that someone used to pave it
over.

Captain America consulting with Cyclops is a fantastic moment that you
have built to and saved for the proper moment. And to think that in the
same issue as all this mayhem is a Phoenix story and a missing Jean Grey?
This is one that I would have tried to summarize to my folks as a way of
arguing how important comic books are -- not just to me, but to America! (I
mean, because that's something I used to do).

Excelsior! d

The root of the word patience is suffering.

I contend that "to be continued on Monday" in this context is torture.

If that new Sentinel contains Wanda, things are about to be ramped up yet another level. I can't wait for Monday!!

I have to point out the awesome Captain America embracing the buccaneer boot in all its glory (all while Cyclops is retreating from the same) 😂😭😱.  No aspersions intended really -just being a bit silly seeing them side by side... 😁

I wish I could take real credit for those Friday cliffhangers, but since these pages were done long before I decided to start posting them like this, the extra dollop of suspense is pure coinkidink!

Hmmmm....
Captain America and Cyclops.

The leaders of their respective teams.  But I wonder if a situation where portions of the X-Men (say...Wolverine, Storm and Colossus) and portions of the Avengers (say...Thor...Scarlet Witch and Beast) had to actively work together as a fighting unit to defeat a world menacing threat....who does the assembled collection of heroes instinctively follow?

And further more...does Cyclops defer to Cap instinctively because Cap is Cap?  I would imagine the X-Men would automatically take cues from Cyclops....but Captain America’s reputation is...well....legendary.

Would someone like Thor follow Cyclops?   One of the things that makes Captain America my favorite hero is that Thor, the God of Thunder (also a favorite)....takes orders from him!  Thor doesn’t have to take orders from anybody not named Odin!

I’d love to see this team worked out over a long series just to explore these dynamics.
