Just when our merry mutants thought taking on sentinels was tough...
Like Larry, I plan to reread everything we've already seen here between now and April 6th.

I should mention, to avoid any fusin' and fumin' as we proceed, that Dark Phoenix here is as Chris and I originally conceived her, a malevolent entity that was contained and controlled by Jean Grey's humanity, until that humanity* was twisted by Mastermind. It was only after we were forced to change our story that Chris started playing the Phoenix Entity as benign, but corrupted by Jean.Remember this page, set before Lilandra could have any knowledge of Jean's "corruption"? Pay special attention to the dialog in the last panel......... ______________ * Or a perfect copy, as we now know.

Like Larry, I plan to reread everything we've already seen here between now and April 6th.•• Maybe start with the SECOND issue. The first really still reads like what it was, an exercise in itch scraching, and the series really starts with issue 2.

That issue left me sweaty! Beyond anything ever published! Elsewhen is a true and worthy successor to the Dark Phoenix saga (and it's not even over yet)
Question: With a "new" character, who's had many derivatives over the years, being introduced, can you describe how you see her colored?

a malevolent entity that was contained and controlled by Jean Grey's humanity,----------
And another question: If Hidden Years had gone on, would you have had more scenes with Jean and The Phoenix peppered in? (After the published scene in space during Hidden Years, it made me feel like The Phoenix was going to start "stalking" Jean)

BTW, any of you with an awareness of British naval history may recognize the First Officer's dialog in the second panel as Chris attempting his own "Kiss me, Hardy."(It's somewhat amusing, at this distance, to read that page and note how many of Chris' tropes there are in such a small space!)

>> Wow -now that you point it out, this really makes the Shi'ar (and Lilandra in particular)more rotten, since they didn't/wouldn't even tell the X-Men that what happened with Jean wasn't really her fault. It's what I've only alluded to (and you've just said): they are actually lucky they had a host that could at least partially control the Phoenix. Now, maybe not so much...

It'd be like trying to prosecute Galactus…•• If Galactus is properly understood and portrayed--and even Stan forgot how to do that!--"prosecuting" him would be like prosecuting a hurricane or an earthquake. Or a supernova.

I always liked your idea in the trial of Reed Richards, that every race sees Galactus differently, like most beings can't even fully comprehend what they are seeing and just filter him down to the familiar (their own race). Really drives home the point that he is a force of nature...
