Dark Phoenixes tend to do that to talk
quietly.

Possibly, but Lilandra phoenix may be louder and grouchier for all we know -maybe Jean was the calmer dark phoenix?(!)

I'm happy just to wait and see the way JB tells it.

Nice little sneak preview, JB; looks interesting. Thanks for sharing!

Lilandra's Phoenix is definitely different from Jean's. The main reason this Phoenix has come to Earth.

You can't imagine how much thought went into choosing that sound effect! Really!

••

John Byrne, it sounds like you're giving this much more thought than some of the people working on the "real" Marvel comic books nowadays.

Since I only joined this group recently, I didn't have an opportunity to read the Elsewhen issues until today. I really enjoyed them. Again, I find these to be better reads that the "official" comic books being published by Marvel.

I've often wondered what the deal is with Sebastian Shaw. He's a mutant, but he has absolutely zero qualms about building Sentinels for the government so they can hunt down other mutants.

However, I think I finally started to understand Shaw over the last few years, because he has a few real-world counterparts.  He's an ultra-wealthy, elitist, greedy, selfish SOB who will exploit anyone & everyone for his own personal benefit.  Shaw is like Jared Kushner or Stephen Miller, who are both Jews, but who are more than happy to ally with white nationalists & neo-Nazis because it enables them to gain even more political & economic power, and because they believe their privilege will protect them from suffering from the consequences of empowering hatemongers.

Anyway, I did enjoy seeing Shaw, in this continuity at least, finally get hoisted on his own petard.

I should probably mention that with all the shuffling and reworking, issue 9 has paced out to just 19 pages—which is vaguely ironic since there was a one page scene I wanted to include, but as it turned out it couldn’t find a home!

Are there a lot of pages that didn't make the cut? Will those be shown sometime down the line as ''bonus pages'?
