I like the inclusion of Nightcrawler.
This entire run has been great -- the X-Men, back at last -- and the attention paid to some of my favorite characters, such as Cyclops, has been one of the highlights.
But the absence of Nightcrawler has been noticeable. This is not to say it's a weakness. With all the guest stars and the breakneck pace, it's been a rollercoaster story, and not every character gets a chance to shine. I'm hoping, however, that JB continues with ELSEWHEN long enough to circle back around to Nightcrawler a bit.
The character's place on the team, in comics history, and especially his friendship with Wolverine are all elements that make me hope he gets his moment(s) in the spotlight before ELSEWHEN eventually (argh!) concludes and these X-Men, THE X-Men, are likely never seen again.

The more the merrier for me, but truthfully unless he gets mentioned I haven't "actively" missed him.
Remembering Banshee was there for over 30 issues during my reading time before he left, I wasn't screaming for him neither.

On the matter of who is in the team, when I first started reading the regular "Uncanny X-Men " it was with issue #122. Banshee was still featured in the corner box on the cover, but the lineup consisted of Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Colossus. So, to me, that was the essential lineup.
That noted, it wasn't the first team of X-men I encountered. In what was not as likely for someone of my age group, I actually first read a tale with the original X-men. It was a reprint of "Marvel Team-Up" #4 in the treasury-sized "Astonishing X- Men." This was a story during the time when the team was running around out of uniform. The next time I read the X-men was a reprint of the first appearance of the Blob in "Son of The Origins of Marvel Comics" trade paperback.
So, I actually was exposed to the original team first. But, while I like that team, something about the new team really appealed to me. They still had Cyclops, my favorite from the original team, and I like how odd the team looked... I remember first seeing that corner box with all those "Orphan Annie" eyed characters, where only Banshee looked human, really... and I loved the artwork in that first new X-Men comic I read, by some guy named John Byrne.
So, while I want you to take us wherever you want to go with the team and their adventures with Elsewhen, I am partial to this particular group. That said, if you are asking about Nightcrawler because of any plans you are considering, even if I like a character I want you to do whatever you feel services your vision best.

I’m not planning on any foul deeds being pointed in Kurt’s direction, so worry not. He is going to be incapacitated for a while, physically and mentally, but that’s not going to be permanent.

Honestly, so much is going on, I am just enjoying the ride...and forgot to miss Kurt.
Cyclops is my favorite---as is seeing Jean again. But seeing all the "New" X-men again (unaltered by all the rough handling of the past decades) is like having some dear old friend brought back to life. Just amazing.
(I also REALLY loved seeing Alex and Lorna too. I've had a soft-spot for them ever since the Neal Adams days.)

I’m not planning on any foul deeds being pointed in Kurt’s direction, so worry not.------------------------------ Whew! I first heard of the X-men through my friend Sheldon in 7th grade. He was describing this comic book he was reading and I was fascinated before I even saw the book - a man who had claws that would pop out of his hands, a demon-man (his words) that could climb walls and teleport, a man who had the ability to turn into steel. Then he loaned me issue #131. It was a done deal after that.

Yay! I like the sound of you using the phrase "a while". Elsewhen really does feel like a dream. You may have tired of hearing this, JB, but every day I think "I can't believe this is happening". As a kid, I used to dream that I was reading "new" JB X-Men comics. 30 plus years later, here they are. Thanks! And for the record, when all of the guest stars go home, I will miss Kurt.

Amen! This really is a dream come true. I'm glad and appreciative that JB is enjoying this, and sharing it with all of us. I said it before, but I'll say it again, along with Charles, thanks, JB!

Well Kurt's abilities directly against a Sentinel aren't very useful. Only if he decides to teleport long objects (a streetlight or a girder) partially in the inside of a Sentinel. Teleporting a part of a Sentinel would cause him great strain leaving him too vulnerable to an attack. So better if he isn't the battle because the others would have to worry about him.
