I like Nightcrawler, and am glad he'll be back, but there's another X-Man I'd like to see return to the team first.

I like Nightcrawler. At this point with the team, he’s the only one Logan
is even remotely close to that he would consider a friend. Sure, he’s got
Peter, but he’s in more of a “little buddy” role to Logan than true friend
and confidant.

The team isn’t the same without Kurt.

Anxious for Kurt to return.

Excited to see the new page.

Confident that you will work him back in when the time is right.

Thanks again for sharing this work with the world JB.

I miss seeing Banshee more than Nightcrawler.
Hopefully we get to see his powers return .

Oh my good DOG! Today's page is EVERYTHING! Reed's tenacity, Ben's deep friendship, Cyclops and Storm's (perhaps desperate?) hope, Reed's halting dialogue, and the comeuppance when he triggers the device - sheer magical delight in every pencil stroke!

Since I started reading Fantastic Four, I have always enjoyed Reed and Ben's friendship - it's incredible. And anyone who overlooks it - or the whole FF family dynamic - is like missing the entree at dinner.

ITEM: Manuel S. - I can think of at least two ways Nightcrawler could be greatly useful in this fight. As noted, Kurt could play human target in front of a sentinel, and 'porting out of the way of another sentinel's attack. The othe is simply to arm him with a satchel of grenades or dynamite, and pop one into a sentinel's mouth or ear or nose, and teleport away as they go off.

I believe that Nightcrawler has an overlooked of ability of speed. I won't (can't) compare him to Quicksilver as far as getting from here to there fastest... but he's damned quick.

And please mark me down for also missing Banshee. This current band of X-Men are short on fliers, and having Banshee or Sunfire back would be a terrific enhancement to the team.

I must go back to salivating at that latest page today. So much satisfaction!

••

Tell me Kurt has the ability to walk thru walls and breathe under water, and I won't be too surprised. It seemed like he was growing a new power every time we turned around -- at least before I got on the book.

One of the reasons I had trouble with the character. He was just not a Marvel mutant (AN extra power). When we hit the whole "invisible in shadow" bit, I pretty much gave up.

(When Chris told me Nightcrawler was invisible in shadow, I ask why he wasn't invisible at night. No answer.)

Take that, you Master Mold!

I like all the detail in the interior of the old flying bathtub. Captures that sense of verisimilitude that has been mentioned before.

When Kirby gave us this pinup, I almost abandoned any thoughts of being an artist. How could I ever manage that kind of detail?

Took me decades to realize it was "just" a matter of a little Zen and trusting my own hand!

I imagine Kirby would have approved of your Mastermold at the bottom of today's panel. The dynamic is evocative and recalls the past master.

Mr. Byrne, I think you may have misunderstood about how fast Nightcrawler goes. I didn't mean a new power of super speed; I meant that he had been shown to go there from here in literally a bamf.

You drew a couple of memorable panels with Kurt taking out three or four opponents all at once, almost, by hitting and teleporting.

Similarly, in Canada, I believe he traveled a mile in three teleports - and those happen almost instantly, as I understand it.

No, I wasn't ascribing new abilities to Kurt. Wall-crawling and teleporting were plenty enough for me!

Addendum: Invisible in the dark.. yeah, so if a cloud passes in front of the sun, does Kurt go all Sue Storm on us? Transparent but visible? And a strobe light would probably make him like a cartoon.
