This comic published, would have become an instant classic. Enjoy reading it so much.

Published, this book would have had to surmount a wall of naysayers. “Why isn’t it scripted by Claremont?” “Why isn’t it inked by Austin?” “Why isn’t it tied more closely to established continuity?” And so on.

John, despite your concerns I can't imagine this series wouldn't have surmounted those hobgoblins of smaller minds and found a large, enthusiastic and grateful audience. Just too good!

JB: It’s vaguely amusing that anyone should ask why this technique wasn’t used against the Sentinels in “Days of Future Past”. My whole story, there, depended on what was basically a quick bit of sleight of hand. The opening presented the mass slaughter of super-folk as a done deal, and, happily, nobody wrote in to asked how it had been accomplished.

With that combination of powers and brains, a much more “realistic” version would have been the Sentinels being defeated—which is what has happened here.

So, yes, no DoFP in ELSEWHEN. Happy endings all ‘round.

My confusion came from you saying, “This all-out Sentinel war is the one referenced in “Days of Future Past”. Saying that connects this timeline with that one... but this timeline didn’t turn out the same way...

I apologize — I honestly don’t mean to be frustrating. I’m just trying to understand the story based on what you’ve said.

That latest page is splendid. I have to wonder... what caused that sentinel to malfunction? Oh, sure, there's the obvious; Reed's finagling with the Sentinel programming.

But if pressed in the manner she is, how would Jean react? She surely could blow out a sentinel. I wonder what really happened. Mr. Byrne's forte is not always the obvious route.

I can't believe you're already 13 issues into this. It seems like such a short time ago when you initially drew that Wolverine/Sauron page. Imagine if you hadn't decided to 'scratch the itch' that day!

Working on this project has been a rollercoaster. When I first dipped into it, not expecting it to become nearly so big, I also did not expect it to be the usual combination of fun and frustration.

Unfortunately, even something as simple as flipping thru an ESSENTIAL volume by way of refreshing my memory on certain points, also refreshed my memory on why I quit the book!

Focus on the "fun" --- those days are over.
