OK, I'm dumb. One problem for my brain when reading one page at a time is I can't connect back with what's come before. Only just realised who that is on the final page. Feel so stupid.

It make so much sense that Jahf has no real defense against telekinesis.
Thinking about it: very few of the Marvel tough guys would. What can the Hulk do suspended in the air? Slam his fists together to create some sort of concussive force? Why doesn't Magneto just lift Wolverine and Colussus 2-feet off the ground?
I'm over-thinking this. (Suspension of disbelieve: re-engaged.)
Anyway---this issue felt extra long. I'm loving the page-a-day reveal. I continue to be amazed at JB's incredible and prolific talent. Like all great things, there are layers upon hidden layers to it. Each day this still feels like an impossible dream.

Anyway---this issue felt extra long.•• As I was posting the pages I found myself double checking the count. Was it really possible this issue started where it did, and ended where it did, and there were only 19 pages?

There was a lot of plot-motion this issue. Culmination of several threads.
This is certainly the way to enjoy great comics (i.e those of well-considered depth). Slowly, savoring the details, and then going back and processing the whole.
Feels like a Master-class. I am enjoying the learning process, i.e. your narration of the craft, almost as much as the sheer joy of seeing the characters and places RESTORED.
...err...well, not so much Xavier's mansion.
Also, I can't remember when I cared enough about a comic story-line to get butterflies in my stomach about what might happen next. Character empathy and properly drawn out suspense, I suspect (...also, no posing, no ninjas, no self-absorbed angst, etc. probably helps a bit too).

Well, if it helps, one could say the telekinesis is a sort of grabbing action that exerts some sort of force on the target that the "tough guy" could push back against... I think we've had instances of the hulk pushing back against Sue Storm's force shields for example.What really "defeated" Jahf here, of course,is Jean's telepathy (and rightly so).

It's hard to believe this is even real. It's the perfect expression of a fun, smart, exciting super hero comic. (The kind I really, really miss.)
Looking forward to the next one even more than the last.

@Micheal: True. I guess "pushing him up against a wall" is different than "lifting him by the scruff of the neck".
Jean's real victory was internal.

It's interesting how long (months?) Jean Grey was able to keep on as Phoenix
as a force for good --while Empress Lillandra was unable to do it at all.
These folks are all in a hell of a pickle now, I can tell you!

I surmise its because Lilandra knows full well what the Phoenix is capable of....and wants every bit of it, regardless of the outcome it appears.
Jean on the other hand...was busy trying to be Jean. And that is what kept the Phoenix in check.

Hmm. Lilandra certainly knows the dangers of the Phoenix force, but the
exact nature of the change that came over her once she had "extracted" it
from Jean has yet to be revealed. Was it the overpowering nature of her
concern and determination to protect her people that drove her to never
before seen extremes in studying and pursuing Phoenix's alien mysteries?
Or was something else insinuating itself in her thoughts?
Either way, we know Lilandra was not expecting to take over as host of the
Phoenix when it happened. So I hesitate to agree that Lilandra "wanted" it
at all.
edit: I didn't know until today that I didn't know how to spell "Lilandra" - my
misapprehension was so strong that I still feel like the correct spelling is
somehow "wrong." Time to get that new brain I've been meaning to buy.
