It fascinates me how strong Jean must be to have controlled the Phoenix to actually being a super heroine! If that mucking Mastermind hadn't interfered, maybe Jean would have been Phoenix' controller forever...
COROLLARY: Phoenix was always at least cosmically powerful. I wonder if her rebellion to Jean's command was evidenced in Jean's falling to Magneto and Proteus? And not being able to break out of Magneto's prison-chairs? I would have thought that would have been like popping a balloon to Phoenix (which, apparently, she likes to do...)
Oh, and Mr. Byrne - you are an evil bastard. It hurt me to look at Colossus' transformation, but looking at Xavier's legs... that's agonizing. And his will in maintaining his composure while he must be in excruciating pain. (Leave us remember that his legs weren't destroyed when he fought Diablo. IIRC, they simply became useless.)
And then that sequence between Mrs. Gray and Phoenix. That's painful to read.
Evil, evil man. And to depict it with such grace and flair. Why do you make me want to see more of this agony???
