Hmmm....Wolverine remembering what happened to him the last time he saw that face.....what could possibly go wrong?

I mean, we'll find out tomorrow! But Logan looks fairly terrified there (to me). And Jahf is there. And Pablo. And JB wouldn't do THAT.
Right?

JB could hit us with a "Meanwhile..." or "Just over three hours ago..." tomorrow instead.

Good comments! I read that last panel so differently now after reading some of the thoughts here. Ominous!

it seems to me Jean and Scott had been physically intimate before that fateful Xmas eve.
>>
Interesting, I suppose various references in subsequent stories of Scott and Jean (via her taking on the copy's memories at some point) to that moment and place as being particularly special, made it seem to me that was the first time. Which was not surprising for me, given Scott's reluctance to fully commit emotionally at times...

I had to pull out Marvel Team-Up #53 because of yesterday's page and that X-flyer! This was always touted as the first Byrne X-Men by dealers so the X-flyer is another return to an old character in it's way. The Cockrum faces seem so apparent it's a wonder people collecting Byrne X-Men later weren't feeling a bit duped by the back-issue sales pitch, although for Team-Up this was the start of a nice run with many highlights like that Havok issue!

Beautiful artwork once again!
I'm trying to remember how public the X-Men were at this time. Weren't they still pretty incognito in terms of what transpired at the mansion? I'm wondering how the Phoenix battle might change that, given the total destruction of the property on the surface. Wouldn't it be crawling with first responders and possibly military?

Amazing work on Wolvie's face there. Almost child like with hope and terror mixed in together (might be my own expectations coming though as I'm thinking his last memory of Jean was her cooking him).

Which raises a point: does Jean *smell* like Phoenix? Granted Wolverine might be too addled to notice the difference...
