JB, have we reached the tipping point yet where you've drawn "true" Jean Grey more vs Phoenix or Half-Jean? I've been trying to do the math

Not to take anything away from him or his talent, but I also wouldn't doubt if computer rendering isn't involved at some level

It bears at least a few photoshop hallmarks, from the gaussian blur on the foreground plants to the lens flare on her right leg.

Didn't look yesterday, so was hoping for two pages today. Only to discover -- oh, tra'al, no such luck! Still, that is a cool final page. The vastness of that gas giant squeezed into that panel at the top and the alien crowd scenes are an interesting change of scenery.

Hm...

I think someone else will have to do that count!

Just as a rough estimate based on issue appearances, 

it's 41 issues for Phoenix and Half-Jean (27 appearances in Marvel and 14 issues here) 

vs 24 issues for Real Jean (Hidden Years + 286 + issue 15)...

by panels it may change the numbers when you look at flashbacks, etc.

Regardless, both versions are the best drawn women ever and Jean in this issue has recaptured all the magic (my 12 year old self fell madly in love with Jean circa 129 - 137 and that flame was reignited during Hidden Years..lol)

Truly amazing how you can create the same look in characters you haven't touched in decades

By the way, my mind was BLOWN at the thought of a Jean Grey-centric "Miss Marvel" series!  Talk about an alternate timeline if that had happened!  Are there any character sheets or proposals for that series still around?  I've seen Dave's variant costumes for Jean circa 101, were any of those for Jean's series or just Phoenix variants?  (like the one where Jean is wearing a Storm-like cape)

It looks like Mr. Artgerm doesn't 'need' photoshop...

the tools don't really matter anyway, a weak drawing with all the tricks in the world is still going to be a weak drawing.

Exactly. Criticizing an artist for using Photoshop is like criticizing an artist for using a pen. Photoshop is a just another tool, it does not produce the artwork by itself. It takes an artist to know how to use the tool to get the effect he or she desires.

...come across as a critical accessment of using Photoshop to enhance art to me. 

Why would using "computer rendering" be something that would take away from an artist's talent, after all? No need to preface an observation in such a manner if one wasn't suggesting using a computer to assist in rendering is somehow wrong to do.
