Realizing we’re coming up fast on five years since I started posting this issue. That goes a way toward explaining why inking it feels so “fresh”! It’s a long time since I laid down these pencils. The inker half of my brain is actually able to APPRECIATE what I was doing here. Yay!

Have you been able to experience that before? That is, coming in fresh after a sizable break to ink work that was largely done at the pencil stage?

Nope. This is the first time I’ve experienced such a gap.

One of the joys of the pencils is the underlying work like the grids. The pencils have this beautiful organic aspect that I really love.

JB: Very cool, especially because you could have had exactly the opposite reaction.

One aspect that has emerged from this exercise is finding myself tweaking details as I go along. Correcting places where, for instance, the pencils got a bit “sloppy”. Often on hands and fingers. (Hm. Cue some dolt to suggest I am using AI for the inking!)

Anyone think THIS could be more condescending?

The lofty heights from which that review comes are occupied only by the most senior arch-angels and the online comic book reviewers.

I just have to pop in to randomly say that JB draws the best natural-looking aliens in comics. Different textures and some wild features. Very fun to ink!

Thanks Paul. I do take some degree of pride in my non-humans.
