I prefer him as a “Man of Mystery”.

Certainly not as Xavier’s good buddy and lab partner!

(Karl Lykos, Moira MacTaggart, Charles Xavier, Magneto... That was a crowded lab!)

So in Elsewhen, X doesn't blame M for the loss of his hair in that lab fire? This changes everything!

Great little bit of characterization with Alt-Magneto's dialogue in panel one. The other Magneto just dissected Wolverine alive, and Alt-M's reaction is a mildly pedantic "I told you so" remark to Alt-Beast.

He's a nasty customer in any universe, is Magneto!

Atchully, it was my intention that Alt-M was the one who shredded Logan’s arms.

Am I remembering correctly that alt-Beast said something about what Xavier did to "his (Beast's) counterpart" in issue 15 or 16? I tend to assume the villains are lying, but who knows what Magneto (both Magnetos?) told him in light of these memory alteration shenanigans.

They probably are lying.

I'm not sure if Hank ever told the X-Men what happened to him.

That's how I read it and that nano-second was filled with characterization:

"I'm Alt-Magneto and I don't have any implanted nobility in my brain from a crazy 'road-to-hell-good-intentions' telepath, so I'm just going to rip the adamantium right out of this guy, cause, hey, it's what I do"

Is Alt-M still being held by Professor X?

I'm reminded of the chapter in Ian Fleming's "From Russia With Love" where he has to deal with exactly how much blood there is in an average man. Something like "9 pints".

My poor, Wolverine-loving heart worries there may never be a day when the shattered bits of Wolverine can be stitched back into a guy who complains about how he's treated by the other X-Men!

I love this story!

Great page all the way around.

Heartbreaking to see Wolverine with Alt-M standing there causally talking to Alt-Beast after what he did.

Nice move on Professor X with everything going on around.

This storyline has been wonderful. My favorite so far.

I'm loving the Magneto's - didn't think I would to be honest.  I'd gotten used to the anti-hero version over the years.  But geez, Alt-M is a mean SOB which fits with the pre-Claremont version nicely.  I'm happy with the shuffling of our M's storyline - of course by roughly 2040 it wouldn't work as by then even a 100 year old wouldn't have memories of the holocaust.  A problem to be dealt with then - if Elsewhen goes that long of course.

Very curious though - I could swear I read somewhere decades ago that the original plan if JB was staying on X-Men was to have Magneto kill Kitty in X-Men 150 (he came close).  But I cannot find that interview I recall reading.  Was that the case?  That would've made Marvel-Magneto irredeemable if he killed a child.  Heck, the raw number of people he killed should've done that, but killing children always pushes a villain to another level.

JB: "Atchully, it was my intention that Alt-M was the one who shredded Logan’s arms."

****

Ah, I see it now! Thanks, JB.

He's even MORE of a nasty piece of work!
