Events on today's page set up the final stages of something towards which I have been slowly marching for many months.

It's a considerable relief to get here!

Property values on Greymalkin Lane have really taken a hit in recent months.

…Greymalkin Lane…

••

Another example of Chris dragging the real world into the comics. Still don't know how he got away with it, except perhaps that nobody was paying much attention to the X-Men at the time!

(Unrelated sidebar: I have noticed on several occasions that I type D-Men when I mean it to be X-Men. Adjacent keys! Got me to thinking, tho. Did Mark Gruenwald sometimes experience this and, typically, feel compelled to make "use" of it?)

Holy cow! A fitting conclusion to a fantastic issue.

Pablo has been an intriguing addition to the cast, and never more so than now!

"Gladys, did you hear that?"
"What's that, dear?"
"Sounded like another explosion from the Xavier place next door."
"Mm."
"Funny how that happens."
"What's that, dear?"
"All the explosions, Gladys."
"Oh, it's gotten so I don't even notice."

Seriously, that was unexpected and sets up a BIG cliffhanger. I'm glad JB hasn't called a break here, as the anticipation might be too much!

Flipping thru the first volume of THE ESSENTIAL HANDBOOK OF THE MARVEL UNIVERSE (the black and white reprint), and noticed what may qualify as the first editorial intrusion. Angel having cross the Atlantic solo in a Thomas/Adams issue is discounted, and "corrected" to indicate he "hitched a ride" on a jet. (Yes, the original creators got it WRONG. tsk tsk.)

Also noticed the halo has been removed from his chest in this edition.

That stinks. The ONE thing Angel can do best is fly and he's not even amazing at that?? Sheesh.

Back in those days, Marvel didn't have a huge number of flying characters. Angel got to be really terrific at that one thing. Now, with a plethora of flyers around, he's not nearly as special. That stinks too.
