*I've wondered if this sequence was one of the first shows of near-nudity in a code-approved Marvel comic....at least until this Byrne fella came along!••• When I had the team meet Ororo in HIDDEN YEARS I dressed her as Dave had, and there came down from on high the command ADD MORE HAIR!

"BTW, a reminder that the "First Monday" rule of posting new issues here means there'll be a gap of more than two weeks between 22 and 23--so brace yourselves!!"_____________________________________________
I think it's only a 1 week gap, assuming this issue ends Friday the 28th. We'd just be skipping Memorial Day week and back at it on June 7th, right?
Not that that will make it any easier, just less time withdrawing!
***Edited to add: JB, I thought of starting a thread in the main forum asking members to post their ideas of a new uniform for Storm, but realize that it may touch too closely to your plans on ELSEWHEN. I'll leave it up to you whether or not it's appropriate.

You’re right on the dates! As to a thread of costumes for Ororo, sure, why not. I’ll just put it on IGNORE and be on my merry way. One note to would be designers: keep ‘em practical!

Whichever Magneto remains...he is on the run again. Knows when odds are against him...thus JB can bring him back when he has some more stories for us. I would be surprised if we have seen the last of him ;) To paraphrase Cyke : what are we gonna do with...14 (more or less) X-Men ?

Storm seems able to use her winds to make the entire team fly without the winds being noticeably bothersome. And that’s without capes.
Edit: Peter is even in his armored form.

Storm needing a cape to fly appears to be another of those fanboy fixations that come along from time to time and lock in where logic fears to tread.

The panels leading up to and following that one show that Storm is creating a - *ahem* - storm. That's why there are "howling winds" bearing her aloft on that page. |

Exactly, it takes a full storm and howling winds for her to fly without the added surface area to help. |

No. That's not what I was saying at all.
QUOTE:
The GSXM panel* is while she deliberately generated a large storm to help a local tribe if I recall correcty. I never got that it would require such a large storm for her to fly without a cape, though. |

This is what I was saying. It wouldn't. In fact, the two times Dave Cockrum draws lots of wind around Storm when she's flying in GSXM #1 is when she is calling up a storm.
Since someone has already posted the first time, here's the second.
Notice that Cockrum draws the big wind gusts again here even though Storm has a cape because she's using her weather powers to call up a storm.
Any other time DC draws Storm flying, he just uses regular ol' speed lines.

Yes, I absolutely, 100% acknowledge the documented fact that Storm can fly without her cape.
It used to bother me as much as anyone when someone would suggest that it was the cape that made Superman fly.
But why is it sacrilege to suggest that a cape that opens up like beautiful wings might be aiding in the lift or steering since she is riding the wind?

It all checks out; - Cyclops needs a visor to control his blasts. - Storm needs a cape to fly. - Xavier shaves his head to heighten his telepathy.

Tom: "...But why is it sacrilege to suggest that a cape that opens up like beautiful wings might be aiding in the lift or steering since she is riding the wind?..."
Because you are so adamant about your point, without any real evidence to support it, and much evidence that disproves it, that you continue to pursue your belief as if it's something actually that has been represented in the comics. It hasn't. There is no text in the first bazillion issues featuring Storm to suggest her cape is anything more than a fashion accessory. There just isn't. The question here is why do you feel so strongly about a mistaken belief that you won't just accept it is a mistaken belief?
This is how religions work, I guess: Belief in something irrational in the face of evidence that proves otherwise.
