That's a nice shot of the back of the Scarlet Witch's head in the third panel, JB. I've long preferred the style of Wanda's original headdress, and like the way you've rendered this version of it here.

There was a bad habit around the Office of referring to Wanda's original headgear as "the shopping bag", so I guess changing to something else was inevitable. Not sure just when it happened, tho, or if it was intentional.

Oh, and the more I see Storm sans boots and cape, the more I like that look for her. It's giving youthful Mother Nature vibes...

I may modify it slightly--as noted, I think she needs footwear of some kind--but more and more I think the "placeholder" is here to stay. I especially like the way it allows her hair to flow full and free.

Great first shot of Storm and Angel. Really love how you depict flying characters landing.
Love the look of Storm's new attire.
JB, were there other designs you tried out for Storm before settling on this one?

JB, were there other designs you tried out for Storm before settling on this one?••• A few unfinished—and discarded—doodles. Nothing inspiring. This “final” version, tho, happened the way many of my designs have over the years, appearing the first time I drew it on the page.

I'd wondered if Magneto might have pulled Guardian's quick-getaway trick!
The Angel's hand motion is a nice touch.

Angel was always a big personality in the original team---a quasi-leader, or at least a man-of-action protagonist. It's good to see him getting lots of face-time here too.
Once again, JB is getting the team dynamic and personalities spot on. This is such a joy.
Also, every time I see Logan in the background I think: "He should be in a hospital bed! Someone help the poor man! Gah!"

Agreed. I have started giving each installment a quick once-over before going through it panel by panel, and saw it upon closer inspection.
And count me among those who appreciate the way JB draws characters landing after flight. It really looks like Storm and Angel are about to touch down in that first panel.

"The writer really detested that whole Archangel plotline, so of course the character was not included."

16-year-old me figured as such when I first bought the issue and found that he wasn't there, but still I was very disappointed!
On the plus side, I was very pleased to see the Byrne/Simonson art combo, and the bonus story with the current Magneto.

Solid page as always. The Guardian comment made sense but where would Magneto have learned that move and when? Hrm.... No speculation (slams breaks on other thoughts). I think everyone who has been reading knows where the Alt-X-Men went (although I have a second possibility in mind but no speculation) and I'm looking forward to seeing that mystery solved in the June issue. Which brings up the obvious question - many threads are coming together - and Mr. Byrne has said he has more stories up to a 50th issue maybe in mind so what comes next after this? I figure we'll have to wait until mid-June to get an idea of the next big storyline. Should be fun to see! How will Logan be tortured next? First his mind, then his hands, what new pain will be done to him?
