I was thinking the earlier Avengers as well.
That alien/Cockrum landscape looks like something that could be inspired by ingesting certain kinds of 'shrooms!

It makes me think of Ororo's face when she is being pulled into the N'Garai icon. Both you and Mr. Cockrum did it, so I guess I'm doubling my chances... but that was spooky! Twice!
