To hopefully forestall disappointment, I’ll mention this page is just that, one page. The set-up for more to come later.

Thanks for the history lesson John - I’d always wondered about the origins. What was your preference for the team name back then?

That also sheds some light on Banshee’s “Major Maple Leaf” crack in 109.

Thanks for the history lesson John - I’d always wondered about the origins. What was your preference for the team name back then?••• Borrowing from the ancient mountain range that surrounds Hudson Bay, my original name for the team was the Canadian Shield. Obviously I knew that would not work at Marvel. Hudson Bay and its appendage James Bay also gave me Guardian’s real name.

Canadian Shield is a solid name - no pun intended. Although I am thankful that Alpha Flight gave the basis for Beta, Gamma and eventually Omega Flights…
I actually remember reading that James Hudson tidbit somewhere a while ago. It’s great insight into your creative process.

Who hates Monday? Nobody reading Elsewhen! Very nice to see these characters on page 11. I wondered if familiar faces would be part of the Wolverine origin story you already teased, JB. Does it feel a bit like “Alpha Flight The Hidden Years” since the timing precedes the Alpha Flight comic book? Granted, with the alternate universe that Elsewhen presents the Alpha Flight stories might not even occur, but it is nice to see these characters getting some screen time in the future.

This!
If you had given me a hundred guesses for what was coming next, I don't think a scene like this would have been among them.
This also gives me an opportunity to repeat my praise for JB's use of civilian scenes. Not only do they look amazing, but they also make the superhero scenes that much more... SUPER!

I love that even though Logan has left the group, his former teammates drop everything to help him.

As Len Wein used to say, “you can do all the stories you want set in Asgard, but sooner or later you have to go back to Earth and take your lumps from the Absorbing Man.”There has to be a “mundane” level that, as you say, makes the super SUPER.
