It would've been fantastic if you could've taken the stories all the way up to GSXM 1 and then put your own spin on re-telling all the stories up until 108•• I did want to end with the team rushing off to face Krakoa--tho I had no idea how long it would take me to get there! (One of the myths that vexed XHY was that it was intended as a 29 issue maxi-series. Not the case at all!)

Sorry for the tangent, JB, but was XHY ever presented to the public to be a precisely 20 issue gap-filler between the old and new team?•• Nope, but XHY was a victim of what I came to call "stealth marketing", where Marvel did such a poor job of promoting the book, many fans had no idea what it was. Because of the 28 issues (by cover numbers) between 66 and 94, many fans seemed to make that assumption all on their own. (The actual gap was from March 1970 [cover date] to August 1975 [cover date], so 65 issues, give or take.)

I love how you depict the original looking version of Hank.I love your version of furry Beast also, but this just rings more true to me of real nostalgia for the X-Men I knew.
I am not sure you would want to speculate on this, but the thought arises:
Had this actually gone through the Marvel Machine (of today) and put out "formally" do you think that this would have lasted these 23 issues? (with current hindsight)
I for one really love seeing this go on. Thank you.

might not happen at the same time, or indeed, the sequence
in which they are presented.

Ah, so that's where they went! Welp, whatever Gladiator has in mind, I do not envy them.
I love alt-Hank best of them all. There's something about the gruffness and loquaciousness at the same time. You don't see it very often.

Hank—non furry—is a lot of fun to draw. Certainly his presence was one of the highlights of XHY for me. (And before anybody rushes off to misconstrue, the furry Beast is also fun, just in a different way.)
