One of the quietly cool things we got to see in HIDDEN YEARS was the time when Beast officially 'crossed over' into his 20s, making him the first of the crew to shed the "Strangest Teens of All" tagline.
It often feels that Marvel never really came around to that way of thinking, never quite depicting Hank and Bobby as being only a couple-few years apart in age. Over the past decade or so it always seems that Hank is portrayed as much older, rubbing elbows with Stark and Richards, lab coat, professorial in demeanor, etc, whereas Bobby feels like he's about a decade younger as opposed to 2 or 3 years younger.
Admittedly, this might've been bolstered by Kelsey Grammer's transformation into the bludgeoning Beast onscreen. But since they weren't even pretending to try to stick with continuity... well... It is what it is.

@JB -- a question, please ---
Did Xavier's telepathic burst here rank higher than the Z'nox maneuver because it happened outside of (prior to) your direct stewardship of the title? Or is it because that action was linked with Marvel Girl, Cyclops, and other bits of technology.
Or even still... maybe Asgardians have much tougher mental walls to penetrate than the emotionless, lack-of-empathy minded Z'nox.
Sorry. That's kind-of a 3-in-1 question, if I can.

That's kind-of a 3-in-1 question... It's more of a multiple choice question--and I usually don't answer those. In any case, I think the first caption on the page answers the question.

OT: I just got curious to see if those Z'nox ever figured in any other stories and a 1999 Claremont Fantastic Four/X-Men crossover is mentioned (not read it myself... Lockjaw has a puppy?). They also show up in the early '00s Maximum Security 'event' Spider-Man by Howard Mackie (but just about every Marvel alien makes a cameo around then).

That establishing shot of the Shi'ar ship is impressive in the way that it shows both the ship's size and it's rough landing. In a way, it's similar to the Millennium Falcon scene in Star Wars. The audience goes wow, but our heroes are unfazed.
I really love Jean's reaction to the corpse of Alt-Cyclops.
Edited to add further commentary.

Good gravy, that ship is HUGE. That's a hell of a shot.

JB, I love the way you make pages thoroughly engaging even when there is no "action" to be seen.
(Hmmm... I wonder why Alt-Bobby does not have the same restraints as his fellow M-Men.)

Not a gag, but priceless nonetheless! I couldn't stop saying: "Oh my gosh!" when, scanning down the line of captured M-men, I first saw it.
I would love if our heroes had some time to explore this alternate world a bit more. I've always loved playing the "What If" game.
Like with all great rides, I'm always a bit sad when it's over. Thank you so much for this wonderful trip down the rabbit hole.

With the exception of the Beast and Wanda, they still look evil to me even without the mind control!
