Real Star Trek vibe here. How many episodes have had a big engine room scene where they are trying to push it beyond its normal limits while the captain (regardless of which run) is pushing for more. As a big Trek fan I love it.

Incidentally, unlike the Cockrum-esque bridge, I really wasn’t going for a STAR TREK vibe on this page. Once again I was harkening back to Dave’s love of FORBIDDEN PLANET.

Dave Cockrum designed Deathbird didn't he? I think he was expected to be doing Ms. Marvel #22 like he'd done #20 & 21 at one point (I even somehow had a Slurpee cup with his art promoting the new Ms. Marvel with some of what was in those two issues). Maybe Paty had a hand in some of these too... Black Cat was intended for Spider-Woman originally, so maybe a bit of an idea to have major villainesses for the heroines.
