Well, just goes to show you that even when you're completely sure of what's going to happen next, KABLAM, something completely out of left field!
Since your interview printed in "The Art of John Byrne", over 40 years ago, I've been hoping beyond hope to see Logan's origin as you had laid it out back then; never ever imagining that it would someday actually come to pass. So, once it started here, I was like, "sure, I know how this is going to go! Can't wait to see that bone-crunching avalanche!" Then, KABLAM, a left turn that makes so much sense to the overall development of the character and all the tiny little touches you've added during your last run and this one.
Magnificent
Oh and count me in as a vote for an Invaders elsewhen too! (I had posters made of the cover to Avengers West Coast #50 and the last page of the Cap / Union Jack issues cause I loved them so much! NO ONE does those characters better!)

Edit: Laying it on a bit thick. I get carried away by enthusiasm for this really fun book! Great page today!

Catching up on the "chat," John asked a few pages back, what does laced with adamantium even mean. I don't know, but I always interpreted that as the bone was removed and basically dipped in adamantium, covering it totally, so it would look like an adamantium bone, as pictured in "Days of Future Past."
I missed John's X-Men run; I didn't collect comics then, so the concept of laced with adamantium coupled with the DOFP image of adamantium bones was interpreted in my mind as the actual bone being handled as described above.
I also assumed this was done to maintain all the other necessary functions of the bones and marrow.
No contriving here on my part, just me interpreting what I was reading and seeing without the luxury of knowing the artist was drawing his own, alternate vision of adamantium replacement bones at the time.
Long story short, for me, "laced with adamantium" meant his bones were simply removed and dipped or plated with adamantium and put back, but what do I know.
Now I wonder if the bones will be solid adamantium or hollow, figuring one would be just as indestructible as the other, but one would be lighter lol ;-)

"There is nothing after he joined the X-Men."
Oh boy...
BTW - John, should that "be" be a "we" in the middle of the page?

Even if the professor might regret putting Logan (and Pablo) through this ordeal, those memories belong to Logan. There's a lot of pain and suffering in his past, but that made him who he is--and he has the right to remember all that can be restored to him.

I see that now, but my 12 year old mind was trying to make sense of what I read and what I saw you draw after the fact.
Why did Shooter have to contradict what had already been done? Was he messing with stuff just to mess with stuff? Did he simply want to make sure it had his mark on it too? Or was he just trying to bust balls and remind you who was boss?
You can't make everybody happy (trust me, I know), but I have 140 people working for me, and none of the above are reasons to do anything.
Glad you have this chance to present your original vision! Thanks again! It's awesome!
