Wolverine's publishing history is a veritable cascade of contradictions. From ignoring Len's original intent that the character be 18 years old with claws that telescoped out of the gloves (not actually stated in the comics), to now-you-see-it-not-you-don't arm hair, to adamantium "laced" bones, to even being stripped of his Canadian birth. And so much more.

Problem with a character that's been around half a century. The barnacles pile up.

Hmm, no title clue for the next issue. That's foreboding...

No room!

This isn't the last episode of THE SOPRANOS! ;-)

I guess what I am saying is, if somebody showed you the
DOFP picture of Wolverine's skeleton and told you his
bones were laced with adamantium, I think you would have
to assume that laced meant coated, even though it
doesn't.

Solid? Coated? Laced? Cognitive dissonance. So the
mind reconciles the picture and the words with a
compromising mental model or scheme.

Ok, I'm done with this. Sorry. My vacation starts
today. Heading to Disney for the week to celebrate my
daughter's 21st birthday. Be good to each other!

And thanks for holding the next issue until I return ;-)

“I begin to regret allowing this.”

That’s one of the best lines in this series. Amazing.

JB: This isn't the last episode of THE SOPRANOS! ;-)

***

David Chase was very cagey about what that last scene meant until an interview last year, where he confirmed the most popular fan theory.

Okay, I wanted to leave well enough alone on the issue, but since the discussion continued I'll mention my main sticking point:

If Logan's adamantium skeleton was part of his mutation like his senses or his healing then its logic would more easily fall under the purview of Scott's optic blasts coming from nowhere and Peter's skin/body transforming into organic steel (along with his blue pants). It would in fact  be some sort of organic/mutant adamantium, which is, you know, fine. < id="protanopia">< id="deuteranopia">< id="tritanopia">

But if his bones have been replaced at some point (after a lifetime of relatively normal bones) with fully metal (non-magic/non-mutant) bones, I figure that means either the original bones were never performing for Logan what our bones do for us, or the (special?) metal somehow continues to perform the role that the original bones did. OR, Logan's healing factor is continuously working overtime to compensate somehow. These views, by the way, should in no way be misconstrued for any kind of agreeing with Interloper-can't-leave-well-enough-alone Shooter :)

p.s. Given that Sabertooth is ElseWhen-officially his father, there are still some notions yet to be fleshed out , no pun intended :)

If anyone would have a mutant alloy, it would be the X-Men.

And I had always thought that Logan's bones were covered in a thin layer of adamantium. But time and endless revisions keep proving me wrong on what I think I know.

Since he took Professor X up on his offer at the exact moment he quit Department H...  yet now has no memories of his time with the X-Men...  how in the world is all of this gonna play out?

Watching Wolverine establish (re-establish) his dynamic with the X-Men --  Cyclops in particular --  and we've already seen that he didn't have the same draw to Jean sans-Phoenix (.....)   ...but then, by this point in his history he had already established a strong connection with Mac and Heather (.....)

Are we actually about to get some raw, 'real'  Wolverine?

I maintain: Chris Claremont, icon that he is, may have done better to allow JB a bit more co-creative expression, and not have imposed as many restraints.  Or perhaps the onus fell more heavily upon Jim Shooter.

Whatever the case.  This is better.
